Whirlpool WRF535SWH 36-inch French-door refrigerator with interior water dispenser: quick sheet
Covers: Whirlpool WRF535SWH** 36-inch, 25 cu ft standard-depth French door with bottom freezer drawer and an interior (in-cabinet) water dispenser: WRF535SWHZ (fingerprint-resistant stainless) plus white, black and black-stainless finish letters on the same base. Parts catalogs carry two-digit revision suffixes (for example WRF535SWHZ01, -04, -06); always read the full model and revision from the label inside the fresh-food section before ordering parts. Years: the spec sheet sits in a 2020 document folder on whirlpool.com and Abt now lists the model as no longer available; no official launch or end date found (approx. late 2010s to early 2020s). For the build date, read the serial label and see find-model-and-serial-number-on-any-appliance.
Entry French door in Whirlpool's lineup: no exterior dispenser, a water dispenser inside the fresh-food compartment, automatic ice maker, full-width temperature-controlled drawer, Accu-Chill temperature management and Adaptive Defrost. Abt lists it as built in Amana, Iowa. Service follows the Whirlpool French-door pattern covered in the whirlpool-family-french-door-side-by-side-refrigerator field manual: airflow and defrost faults first, then ice and water.
Safety first
- Unplug before removing any panel.
- Refrigerant and sealed-system work: diagnosis only; repairs go to an EPA 608 certified technician.
- The unit is heavy: pull it out straight on its rollers and protect the floor.
- Shut the water supply before working on the inlet valve or lines.
- Live-voltage checks on the control or fans are caution work.
How it works
One sealed system cools the freezer drawer evaporator; the evaporator fan pushes cold air through the freezer and up a duct to the fresh-food section. Sealed-system work (compressor, coil, refrigerant) is referral only to an EPA 608 certified tech.
Adaptive Defrost (Whirlpool term, listed by Abt and Greentoe): the control runs the defrost heater only when needed rather than on a fixed timer, ending on a defrost sensor/bimetal.
Water enters at the rear inlet valve, passes the EveryDrop filter (Abt lists EDR4RXD1; Whirlpool's parts site lists the same for WRF535SWHZ01/-06) and feeds the interior dispenser and the ice maker.
Digital controls set both compartments. A store display unit can be left in demo (showroom) mode, where lights and display work but cooling is off (Whirlpool product help).
