How it works

Preserva: Abt and Greentoe both describe two independent cooling systems, one for the fresh food and one for the freezer. Check the tech sheet for the exact evaporator/fan layout before diagnosing; sealed-system work is referral only (EPA 608).

Ice is made and stored in the In-Door-Ice bin on the inside of the left fresh-food door, then fed to the exterior dispenser.

Water passes the EveryDrop filter (EDR2RXD1 per KitchenAid's parts site and FiltersFast) on its way to the dispenser and ice maker.

The pantry drawer has selectable temperature presets controlled from the panel.

Samsung asks owners not to unplug or press buttons to make a code go away, because that erases what the technician needs; only a few power-related codes are cleared by a 60-second power cut. An OF OF or similar display is Cooling Off (demo) mode, not a fault. The test mode is entered by holding a model-specific pair of buttons until the display blanks, then pressing a button to step through modes, one of which is forced defrost (Fd).

Whirlpool says routine condenser cleaning is often not needed in a normal home but recommends inspecting and cleaning every few months where there is dust, grease or pets; older GE manuals say at least yearly.
