Value-priced Hisense 4-door with an inverter compressor, a single evaporator with Multi-Air Flow, R-600a (isobutane) refrigerant, a VersaTemp drawer that runs from about 27 °F to 41 °F, Wi-Fi through the ConnectLife app and Super Cool / Super Freeze. The ice maker is installed in the fresh-food area (the spec sheet lists no ice maker in the freezer). Hisense refrigerator codes in the library are E1-E7 and F-codes; confirm each against the tech sheet for this model.

Safety first

Unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its circuit) before removing panels, the machine-compartment cover or any harness.
Close the water supply before working on the inlet valve, filter head or door water lines; keep towels down.
Sealed system (compressor, condenser, evaporator tubing, refrigerant): diagnosis only. Charging, brazing or opening the system is EPA 608 work for a certified technician.
Never chip ice off the evaporator with tools; a punctured tube vents refrigerant and ends the repair.
Defrost heaters and metal frames get hot; let them cool before handling.
Get help moving the unit: these refrigerators weigh well over 300 lb.
R-600a (isobutane) is flammable: no flame or spark sources near a suspected leak; ventilate the room.

How it works

One evaporator cools all compartments; Multi-Air Flow ducts spread the air. A fresh-food or VersaTemp complaint usually starts at the freezer coil, fan or air damper.

Inverter compressor: it runs long and at variable speed by design. Long run time alone is not a fault; check temperatures with a thermometer.

VersaTemp drawer: user-selectable from about 27 °F to 41 °F (chiller, fridge or soft freeze). Ask what mode it is in before diagnosing it.

Water passes the filter (rated 6 months / 200 gallons) to the door dispenser and the installed ice maker.

Refrigerant is R-600a (isobutane), which is flammable: no flames or spark sources near a suspected leak.

Samsung asks owners not to unplug or press buttons to make a code go away, because that erases what the technician needs; only a few power-related codes are cleared by a 60-second power cut. An OF OF or similar display is Cooling Off (demo) mode, not a fault. The test mode is entered by holding a model-specific pair of buttons until the display blanks, then pressing a button to step through modes, one of which is forced defrost (Fd).
