Compact-width French-door style fridge for narrow kitchens, condos and rentals. Simple platform: no water dispenser, digital touch controls, Quick Cool / Quick Freeze, LED lighting, Sabbath mode. The QJS15HYRFS is icemaker-ready (optional kit; no water line needed until one is fitted); listings show no ice maker for the HRF15N3AGS. Calls are mostly temperature (defrost and airflow), door sealing on the narrow French doors and drawer alignment.

Safety first

Unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its circuit) before removing panels, the machine-compartment cover or any harness.
Close the water supply before working on the inlet valve, filter head or door water lines; keep towels down.
Sealed system (compressor, condenser, evaporator tubing, refrigerant): diagnosis only. Charging, brazing or opening the system is EPA 608 work for a certified technician.
Never chip ice off the evaporator with tools; a punctured tube vents refrigerant and ends the repair.
Defrost heaters and metal frames get hot; let them cool before handling.

How it works

Frost-free (automatic defrost) cooling: an evaporator and fan behind the freezer rear wall supply the freezer drawers and, through a duct and damper, the fresh-food section. The tech sheet on the unit confirms the exact layout.

Digital (electronic) thermostat with touch controls; Quick Cool and Quick Freeze temporarily drive the set points down after loading.

QJS15HYRFS has a Cool Zone drawer that the user sets for vegetables, beverages or meat; a wrong setting explains many 'too cold / too warm drawer' complaints.

No dispenser: on QJS15HYRFS the only water connection is the optional ice maker kit.

Samsung refrigerators: reading display codes, Cooling Off (demo) mode, and forced defrost (Fd) / test mode concepts

Samsung asks owners not to unplug or press buttons to make a code go away, because that erases what the technician needs; only a few power-related codes are cleared by a 60-second power cut. An OF OF or similar display is Cooling Off (demo) mode, not a fault. The test mode is entered by holding a model-specific pair of buttons until the display blanks, then pressing a button to step through modes, one of which is forced defrost (Fd).

LG's Smart Diagnosis sends the appliance's status to the ThinQ app over Wi-Fi or, on older models, as an audible tone the phone picks up near the appliance speaker; the app then shows the result. Whirlpool says routine condenser cleaning is often not needed in a normal home but recommends inspecting and cleaning every few months where there is dust, grease or pets; older GE manuals say at least yearly. Many current GE models have a sealed 'NeverClean' condenser that needs no cleaning, and some Whirlpool models can only be cleaned by a technician. Know which design you have before you pull the fridge out. Finish with a gasket and door-seal check.
