Check that the door closes fully, then whether the lock motor moves at all: no movement points to the motor or the control output; movement without confirmation points to the switch, latch binding or wiring.

It is released with a press-and-hold on a specific pad, and the key differs by brand and model. Some ovens also lock the panel automatically during self-clean, a probe cook or twin-cavity modes. Only if the lock will not release, or comes back after a power reset, is it a door-lock or control fault.

Running for a while after a long or hot bake is normal; running with the oven cold, starting at power-up or never stopping points to a fan thermostat stuck closed, a welded relay, a bad temperature sensor reading or a control fault. A fan that never runs is a safety issue because the controls overheat.
