Zoeller M63 Premium Series cast-iron sump pump (63-0001): quick sheet
Covers: Zoeller Model M63 (63-0001 and cord-length variants), the Premium Series step between the M53 and the larger M95/M98. See quicksheet-zoeller-m53-m98-sump for the siblings.
Submersible cast-iron sump pump with an integral vertical float and mechanical (snap-action) switch, 1-1/2 in NPT discharge, 115 V. Listed as 3/10 hp by Zoeller's comparison sheet and most distributors (some list 1/3 hp). Field calls: float hung up on the pit wall or debris, failed switch, airlocked discharge, check valve problems.
Safety first
- Unplug before handling.
- Plug into a GFCI-protected outlet as required by code; do not use extension cords.
- Sump water may be contaminated; wear gloves.
How it works
A solid float rides a vertical rod and trips the integral switch: on at about 7-1/4 in of water, off at about 3 in.
Because the float is vertical, it needs less pit width than a tethered float, but it still must move freely; a pump tipped against the wall or a cord wrapped around the float keeps it from switching.
The pump is permanently lubricated and sealed; field service is the switch, cord and impeller cleaning, not motor rebuilds.
