Sony BRAVIA 3 (S30, 2024): quick sheet
Covers: Sony BRAVIA 3 entry 4K Google TVs: K-43S30, K-50S30, K-55S30, K-65S30, K-75S30, K-85S30 (2024). Panel type can differ by size (the 43 in tested as IPS-type by Tom's Guide).
Sony's most affordable 2024 set: direct-lit LED backlight with no local dimming, 60 Hz panel, four HDMI 2.0 inputs (no HDMI 2.1), X1 processor and Google TV. RTINGS notes that one failed LED can black out the whole backlight, so 'sound but no picture' is the classic call.
Safety first
- Unplug and wait before opening.
- LED-driver and power-board live tests are caution work.
- Two-person panel handling.
How it works
Power board supplies standby, logic and LED string voltage; the main board (Google TV, X1) feeds the panel electronics.
LEDs are wired in series strings on strips behind the diffuser; one open LED stops the string, and the LED driver may shut down the whole backlight.
No HDMI 2.1 and a 60 Hz panel: consoles cannot run 4K 120. That is the design, not a fault.
