Samsung NX58 30-inch gas ranges (electrical and ignition side): quick sheet
Covers: Samsung NX58-series 30-inch gas ranges, 5.8 cu. ft. oven, approx. 2014-2022: freestanding NX58H5600, NX58R5601, NX58T7511 (Air Fry) and similar NX58F/M/T5xxx-7xxx models; NX58K9500 is the slide-in version of the same oven platform. Flex Duo / dual-door NX58 models (NX58K7850, NX58M6850) share most parts but add a divider switch. Electrical, ignition and control side only; all gas-carrying parts are blocked. Read the full model and version code (e.g. /AA-00) on the rating plate before ordering parts.
The NX58 family is Samsung's mainstream gas range: five sealed burners with one shared spark module, a rear convection fan, and an oven with an 18,000 BTU bake burner under the floor and a 13,500 BTU broil burner at the ceiling (per Samsung spec sheets), each lit by a glow-bar igniter. A touch control on the backguard runs everything on one 120 V, 20 A grounded circuit. Typical calls: oven slow to light or stuck near 150°F (weak igniter), clicking burners after spills, C-d0/SE key faults, C-2x sensor faults, and C-d1 lock faults after self-clean.
Safety first
- GAS SMELL: do not operate switches, lights or phones near the range; do not light anything; shut the gas off only if safe to reach; ventilate, leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 from outside
- Gas valves, the oven safety valve, regulator, orifices, gas pressure, LP/NG conversion and gas lines are BLOCKED: refer to a licensed gas technician
- Unplug the range before touching igniter, spark, sensor, board or fan wiring; the spark module output is high voltage
- Live 120 V checks at igniter harnesses and boards are for trained techs with insulated probes; keep clear of the burner while an igniter is energized
- If the oven keeps heating after Off or shows a repeat C-21, unplug the range and leave it off until repaired
- Re-engage the anti-tip bracket every time the range is moved
How it works
Power: the range plugs into a single 120 V, 60 Hz grounded outlet on a 20 A circuit (Samsung spec sheets for NX58R5601 and NX58T7511). The control board, spark module, both oven igniters, light, lock motor and convection fan all run from it. If nothing sparks, check the outlet and breaker before anything else.
Cooktop: each valve stem has a switch that closes at LITE; any closed switch fires the single spark module, so all electrodes tick together and only the burner with gas lights. Moisture or burnt spatter bridging an electrode, or a sticky switch, makes the whole cooktop click.
Oven ignition: on Bake the control energizes the bake igniter circuit; the glow-bar heats and its current rises until the oven safety valve opens and the burner lights. A worn igniter can glow but not pass enough current, so the display sits around 150°F and never climbs (Samsung: if the display stays at 150°F the oven is not heating). The burner cycles off and relights to hold temperature; that is normal. Broil uses the ceiling burner and its own igniter.
Temperature and codes: an RTD sensor (about 1,080 ohms at room temperature) feeds the control. Samsung groups C-20, C-21 and C-22 as sensor faults; C-21 is shown when the sensor reads hotter than expected. C-d0 is a held or shorted key, C-d1 the door lock, C-F0 lost communication between main and sub boards, C-F1 a memory (EEPROM) read/write fault, and C-F2 a touch-panel communication fault. tESt/tE5t is demo mode: the oven will not heat but the gas cooktop still lights.
Convection and self-clean: a fan behind the rear cavity cover circulates heat from the gas burners in convection modes (True Convection models add their own convection heat source; check the model's spec sheet). Convection auto conversion lowers the entered temperature by 25°F by default, which customers often report as the oven running cold. Self-clean locks the door with a motorized latch above the door; lock problems show as C-d1.
