Frigidaire FCRG3052A and Gallery FGGF3036T/FGGF3059 30-inch gas ranges (electrical and ignition side): quick sheet
Covers: Frigidaire 30-inch freestanding gas ranges: FCRG3052A (AS/AB/AW, later FCRG3052B revisions; manual clean, no self-clean, storage drawer) and Gallery FGGF3036T (self-clean plus steam clean, convection fan) and FGGF3059T (Gallery, True Convection, self-clean plus steam clean). Electrical, ignition and control side only; every gas-carrying part is blocked. All listed models are discontinued and were sold roughly 2015-2021; match the full model and suffix on the rating plate (under the cooktop or on the storage drawer frame) before ordering parts.
These are high-volume Frigidaire gas ranges: five sealed burners with spark ignition, and an oven fired by a bake burner under the floor and a broil burner at the oven ceiling, each lit by its own glow-bar (hot-surface) igniter. An electronic oven control (EOC/ERC) with a membrane touch pad runs the oven on 120 V and reports two-digit F-codes. The FCRG3052A is the simple version (no self-clean lock, no convection); the Gallery FGGF3036T/FGGF3059T add a motorized self-clean lock and a convection fan. Most calls are weak oven igniters (glows but no flame), non-stop clicking from wet spark switches, F10/F11/F30-F31 codes, and on Gallery models, lock faults after self-clean.
Safety first
- GAS SMELL: do not operate switches, lights or phones near the range; do not light anything; shut the gas off only if safe to reach; ventilate, leave the building and call the gas utility or 911 from outside
- Gas valves, the oven safety valve, regulator, orifices, LP/NG conversion and gas lines are BLOCKED: give the symptom, make the area safe and refer to a licensed gas technician
- Unplug the range before touching igniter, spark, sensor or control wiring; the spark module output is high voltage
- Igniter current checks are live 120 V with a hot igniter next to a gas burner: trained techs only, keep hands and probes clear of the flame path
- If the oven keeps heating after Cancel, unplug the range and leave it off
- Confirm the anti-tip bracket is engaged every time the range is moved
How it works
Power: the whole range runs from one grounded 120 V outlet (retail listings show 120 V, about 5 A for the Gallery models). The outlet feeds the EOC, the spark module, the igniters, the oven light and, on Gallery models, the lock motor and convection fan. Losing the outlet means no spark and no oven, although cooktop burners can still be lit with a match in an outage (follow the owner's manual).
Cooktop: each burner valve stem carries a spark switch. Turning any knob to LITE closes its switch and powers the spark module, which fires all electrodes at once (each burner clicks, only the one with gas lights). Releasing the knob from LITE opens the switch and the clicking must stop.
Oven ignition: when Bake is called, the EOC closes its bake relay and sends 120 V through the glow-bar igniter in series with the oven safety valve. The igniter heats and its current rises as it heats; the valve opens only when the igniter passes enough current (Frigidaire flat igniters are rated about 3.2-3.6 A). A worn igniter can glow bright orange but stay below the opening current, so the oven never lights. If it takes more than about 90 seconds of glow, the igniter is the first suspect. Broil works the same way with its own igniter and valve circuit at the top of the oven.
Temperature control: an RTD sensor (about 1,080-1,100 ohms at room temperature) on the upper rear oven wall tells the EOC the cavity temperature. The EOC cycles the igniter circuit on and off to hold the set point, so the burner going out and relighting during a bake is normal. Sensor out of range gives F30/F31; a reading that keeps climbing with no heat call gives F10 (runaway).
Self-clean (Gallery FGGF models only): the EOC drives a lock motor above the door and reads its lock switch; the door must lock before the high-heat cycle starts and stays locked until the cavity cools. Lock faults show in the F90-F94 group. Steam clean is a short low-temperature cycle with water on the oven floor and does not use the lock. The FCRG3052A has no self-clean and no lock motor.
