LG LRGL5823 / LSGL6335 30-inch gas range (electrical side): quick sheet
Covers: LG 30-inch gas ranges with electronic oven control and five sealed burners: LRGL5823 (freestanding, 5.8 cu. ft., fan convection, Air Fry, Wi-Fi), LSGL6335 (slide-in, 6.3 cu. ft., ProBake convection, InstaView), and close siblings such as LRGL5825 and LRG4115. Electrical and ignition side only: glow-bar oven igniters, surface spark system, oven sensor, controls, fans and the self-clean door lock. Every gas-carrying part is blocked.
These LG gas ranges plug into a standard 120 V outlet that runs the touch control, the bake and broil glow-bar igniters, the surface spark module, the convection fan, the lights and the self-clean lock motor. Both cleaning modes are present: EasyClean (a short, low-heat cycle using water sprayed in a cool oven) and a full high-heat self-clean that locks the door. The usual electrical calls are a weak oven igniter (F-9, oven not heating), sensor codes (F-1/F-2), a shorted touch key (F-3), door-lock faults after self-clean (F-10), and burners that click non-stop after a spill. Gas valves, the oven safety valve, regulator, orifices, LP conversion and the supply line are blocked: refer to a licensed gas technician.
Safety first
- Gas valves, oven safety valve, regulator, orifices, LP/NG conversion and supply lines are blocked: refer to a licensed gas technician.
- If you smell gas: do not operate switches, ventilate, leave if strong and call the gas utility from outside.
- Unplug the range and close the range gas shutoff before removing panels or the oven floor.
- Igniter current tests are live 120 V checks: trained technicians only, clamp placed with power off.
- Glow-bar igniters stay hot and are fragile; do not touch the element.
- When the range is moved, protect the flexible gas connector and re-engage the anti-tip bracket.
How it works
Surface: each burner valve stem carries a small spark switch. Turning any knob to LITE closes its switch and powers the spark module, which fires every electrode on the cooktop at once, so all burners click together. Ignition depends on a dry, clean electrode and a burner cap that sits level on the burner head; LG's own help pages point first to moisture and debris at the cap, head and electrode.
Oven: bake (under the floor) and broil (at the top) each use a glow-bar igniter wired in series with the oven safety valve. When the control calls for heat it closes a relay that powers the igniter; the valve opens only after the igniter is drawing enough current, so an aged igniter can glow orange yet never light the burner. The control then cycles the igniter circuit on and off around setpoint using the RTD sensor reading.
Monitoring: the control watches the sensor and the temperature rise. An open or shorted sensor sets F-1/F-2; if the cavity does not rise as expected during preheat (LG states under about 150°F after five minutes, other references describe less than about 10°F rise in five minutes), it sets F-9 and stops heating. Over-temperature, convection-fan, lock and board-communication faults each have their own code.
Cleaning: EasyClean runs about 10 minutes at low temperature after the cool oven is sprayed with water, and does not need the door lock. Full self-clean drives a motorized lock, confirms lock position through switches, then runs the burners hot; a lock that does not reach position sets the door-lock code.
Convection: a rear-wall fan circulates air from the gas burners. LG fan-convection gas models do not rely on an extra electric heating element for convection; confirm on the model's tech sheet before ordering parts.
