KitchenAid KSEG700E (slide-in) / KFEG500E (freestanding) 30-inch electric convection range: quick sheet
Covers: KitchenAid 30-inch radiant glass-top convection ranges, 6.4 cu. ft. oven, AquaLift plus self-clean: KSEG700E slide-in with front controls (KSEG700ESS stainless, KSEG700EBS black stainless, KSEG700EWH white, revision digits after the suffix) and KFEG500E freestanding with a backguard (KFEG500ESS, KFEG500EWH, KFEG500EBL and others). Roughly 2013-2020; Abt lists KFEG500ESS as discontinued, replaced by KFES530S. Canadian versions carry a Y prefix. Whirlpool-family platform.
Two KitchenAid ranges on the Whirlpool electric platform: 240 V, 40 A, electronic oven control with Whirlpool F#E# fault format, true convection with a third (bow-tie / convection) element and fan, and AquaLift low-temperature cleaning on top of high-heat self-clean. The KSEG700E has a 6/9/12 in. triple element and a dedicated warming zone; the KFEG500E has two dual elements and a warming zone. Expect the usual Whirlpool electric failures: sensor, bake/broil/convection elements, element switches, door lock and supply wiring (F9E0 on a miswire).
Safety first
- 240 V: breaker off before opening panels; live tests with insulated probes only.
- Element stuck on: kill power at the breaker immediately.
- Reinstall the anti-tip bracket.
How it works
240 V split-phase: elements run leg to leg, the control, lights and fans on 120 V. Both models are listed at 240 V / 40 A by two retailers (KFEG500E) and one (KSEG700E). No cord is supplied; a 3- or 4-wire range cord must match the outlet.
Oven: the control reads a rear-wall RTD and cycles bake, broil and the convection element plus fan through relays. In convection modes the control can auto-convert recipe temperature.
Cooktop: front controls (KSEG700E) or backguard controls (KFEG500E) drive infinite/element switches; multi-ring elements add rings by switch position. The warming zone runs at about 100 W.
AquaLift: water poured into the oven bottom and a low-heat (under 200 °F) cycle loosen soil in under an hour; it is not a self-clean replacement for heavy soil. The high-heat self-clean uses the motorized door latch and cooling fan.
