Kalamera compressor wine coolers (KRC-12SS / 18SS / 24SS, KRC-6893, KRC-40DZB / 66DZB, 24 in. KRC-150DZB): quick sheet
Covers: Kalamera (Kalamera Inc.) compressor wine and beverage coolers sold mainly online and at Home Depot: slim KRC-12SS, KRC-18SS and KRC-24SS (12/18/24 bottles) and KRC-6893 (101 cans) from a 2022 manual; two-door dual-zone KRC-40DZB and KRC-66DZB from a 2016 manual; and the current 24 in. dual-zone KRC-150DZB (46 bottles) and KRC-46DZB-R beverage/wine unit from Kalamera's own listings. The model and serial are on the product label. Search terms: Kalamera wine cooler not cooling, Kalamera display error, KRC-24SS, KRC-40DZB, KRC-150DZB, Kalamera control panel locked.
Budget compressor coolers with a simple touch panel, an NTC cabinet sensor, internal fans on the dual-zone models and front venting on the built-in models. Kalamera's published manuals are short and list no error codes, so diagnosis is mostly power, airflow, seal, level and the control board. Kalamera handles warranty service directly (email service@kalamera.com).
Safety first
- Unplug before any cleaning or repair; grounded outlet only; never cut or remove the ground prong; no extension cord.
- Sealed-system faults: diagnosis only; repairs by an EPA 608 certified technician. Check the label for a flammable refrigerant before any work near tubing.
- Remove the door before disposing of an old unit (child entrapment).
- Do not lift the unit by the door handle.
How it works
The control board reads an NTC sensor in each zone and runs the compressor (and fan) to hold the set point, in 1 degree steps.
Heat leaves through a condenser that breathes through the kick plate at the front bottom on built-in models; Kalamera warns that blocking it causes malfunction and voids the warranty.
The 2022 slim models lock the panel automatically 30 seconds after the last key press; touch the unlock key before changing anything.
After power is cut there is a 3 to 5 minute restart delay, and the display may differ from the set point by a few degrees for the first hours after start-up (Kalamera says normal).
Current listings say the settings are remembered after a power loss and the unit auto-defrosts (every 6 hours on the KRC-46DZB-R listing).
