Dacor Modernist / Contemporary / Transitional 30-inch wall ovens with steam assist (DOB30 / DOC30 / DOP30): quick sheet
Covers: Dacor 30-inch built-in electric wall ovens of the Samsung-era generation (about 2017 on): single steam-assisted ovens DOB30M977S (Modernist, for example DOB30M977SS silver stainless, DOB30M977SM graphite), DOB30P977S (Transitional / Contemporary), doubles DOB30M977D and the oven/combination DOC30M977D series. Older Dacor Renaissance and Discovery ovens (MO, ERO, DTO prefixes) use different controls and are not covered. Dacor has been part of Samsung since 2016; current manuals and parts flow through Samsung. Read the rating label (door open, on the frame) for the full model and serial.
A 240/208 V, 30 A single oven with a large 4.8 cu. ft. cavity, Dacor's 'Four-Part Dual Pure Convection' (two rear convection elements and fans with a baffle and filter), a bake element, a broil element and steam assist fed from a hand-filled water reservoir. Dacor publishes no public code table for this generation, so diagnosis is element, fan, sensor, lock and relay-board work, plus the steam path (reservoir, pump, generator, scale). Owner and technician forum reports for Dacor ovens most often describe touch-panel key faults, cooling-fan faults and relay-board damage after a short.
Safety first
- 240/208 V, 30 A: both breaker legs off and verified dead before panel removal; live checks are trained-tech only (caution).
- Steam system can hold hot water: let the oven cool and empty the reservoir before opening the water path.
- Wall ovens are heavy: use a lift and a helper.
How it works
Heat sources: Dacor's spec sheet lists a 3,000 W 8-pass bake element, a 4,400 W 10-pass broil element and two 1,300 W convection elements (a retailer lists bake as 3,300 W, so confirm on the rating label). In Four-Part Pure Convection, heat comes only from the rear elements, with fans pushing air through a baffle.
Steam assist: the owner fills a water reservoir by hand; a pump moves water to a steam generator that injects steam into the cavity in Steam Bake and Steam Roast modes. Scale is the long-term enemy, as on any steam oven.
Control: a touch user interface commands a relay board that switches elements, fans, lock, lights and the steam system. A temperature sensor in the cavity closes the loop. Forum reports tie key-fault style codes to a shorted touch membrane and repeated F-codes to relay-board damage, but Dacor does not publish these meanings for this generation.
Cooling: a cooling fan moves air across the electronics; it runs on after cooking. Forum posts on older Dacor doubles show separate upper and lower cooling-fan faults, so doubles may log a fault per cavity.
Self-clean drives a motorized door lock; the lock must report locked before the clean heat starts.
