Café CGS700P / CGS750P 30-inch gas slide-in range (electrical and ignition side): quick sheet
Covers: Café (GE Appliances) 30-inch front-control gas slide-ins: CGS700P single 5.6 cu. ft. convection oven (CGS700P2MS1 stainless, CGS700P3MD1 matte black, CGS700P4MW2 matte white; revision digits can appear inside the suffix, e.g. CGS700P2M1S1) and CGS750P double-oven version (CGS700P-style cooktop over an upper and a lower oven; CGS750P2MS1 and matching color suffixes). Roughly 2019 onward. Electrical and ignition side only: every gas-carrying part is blocked.
Café's mid-line gas slide-in: six sealed burners on continuous cast-iron grates with a center griddle, front knobs, a glass touch oven control with Wi-Fi, convection and air fry, self-clean plus steam clean, on an ordinary 120 V / 15 A circuit. It is built on the GE gas slide-in platform, so ignition, sensor and control logic follow GE practice (GE F-codes, glow-bar oven ignition on most GE gas ovens). The double-oven CGS750P puts a small upper oven over a convection lower oven and adds a second set of igniters, sensor and lock to check.
Safety first
- Gas valves, regulator, orifices, connector and LP conversion: blocked. Shut the gas, ventilate and refer to a licensed gas technician.
- If you smell gas: do not operate switches or the range; leave the area and call the gas utility.
- Igniter and spark tests involve live 120 V and spark high voltage: insulated tools, unplug before touching leads.
- Install the anti-tip bracket on reinstall.
How it works
Supply and control: the range runs on 120 V (15 A circuit per two retailer spec pages); 120 V feeds the spark module, oven igniters, convection fan, lights, cooling fan and the electronic control board. A reversed polarity or missing ground can cause continuous sparking or no flame sensing on spark modules, so polarity and ground are the first checks after an install.
Surface burners: turning a knob closes a spark switch behind it, the spark module fires all electrodes, and the burner valve (gas side, blocked) lets gas to the burner. The 21,000 BTU tri-ring burner sits front-left and the 5,000 BTU simmer burner rear-left on the sources we checked.
Oven: on a bake call the control powers the bake ignition circuit; on GE-family gas ovens this is usually a glow-bar igniter wired in series with the safety valve, so the valve opens only when the igniter draws enough current. Broil uses an in-oven broil burner at the top with its own igniter. A convection fan (retailers list 1,200 W for the convection system) and, per one retailer, a convection heat source run in convection modes. Confirm the actual ignition parts on the model's parts list.
Self-clean and steam clean: self-clean drives a motorized door lock and runs high heat; the cooling fan protects the controls. Steam clean is a short low-temperature cycle with water poured on the oven floor; it does not lock the door on most GE models.
Wi-Fi (SmartHQ) lets owners preheat and monitor remotely; a Wi-Fi fault does not stop local cooking.
