Broan 41000 series (413001, 413004, 413023 and others) non-ducted under-cabinet hood: quick sheet
Covers: Broan 41000 series 30 in and 36 in non-ducted hoods (e.g., 413001 white, 413004 bisque, 413023 black, 413601 36 in white; check the label). Very common in apartments and rentals. Some versions are listed as discontinued.
The basic apartment hood: recirculating only, a charcoal filter (Broan 41F), 2-speed fan, separate rocker switches for fan and light, and an incandescent-style bulb socket. It does not remove heat or moisture, only some grease and odor; customer complaints of 'it does nothing' are often a clogged filter or expectations.
Safety first
- Turn the circuit off at the breaker before opening the wiring box or the blower housing.
- Let the cooktop cool; hood filters and surfaces get hot and greasy.
- Ducts must end outdoors through a proper cap (never in an attic, soffit or wall cavity); metal duct only.
How it works
Non-ducted: the fan pulls air through a combination grease/charcoal filter and blows it back into the kitchen.
Two-speed fan on a rocker switch, separate light rocker.
Lamp lens takes up to a 75 W A19 bulb (Broan states incandescent; use an LED of equal or lower wattage if the customer prefers).
