Mitsubishi M-Series wall units MSZ-GL and MSZ-FS (Hyper-Heat): quick sheet
Covers: Mitsubishi Electric M-Series wall-mounted heads MSZ-GL (paired with MUZ-GL outdoor units) and MSZ-FS (paired with MUZ-FS / MUZ-FS…NAH Hyper-Heat). Sizes 6K-24K; suffixes NA-U1/U2. Single-zone or multi-zone capable.
The contractor-favorite premium ductless line. The GL is the mid-tier wall unit; the FS is the high-efficiency unit with 3D i-see sensor and, on NAH outdoor units, Hyper-Heat rated for full heating capacity at 5 °F. Faults are signaled by blinking the OPERATION and TIMER lamps.
Safety first
- 208/230 V and inverter capacitors: lock out and wait before touching boards.
- Refrigerant circuit is blocked: EPA 608-certified technician only.
How it works
Inverter-driven compressor and fans modulate capacity (MSZ-GL12NA: about 1,500-13,600 BTU/h cooling).
Indoor and outdoor units communicate over the 3-wire power/communication cable from the outdoor unit.
Self-diagnosis: when a fault occurs the head blinks its OPERATION and TIMER indicator lamps in a repeating pattern; count blinks per cycle and decode with the model's service manual.
Hyper-Heat (FS…NAH outdoor units) keeps 100% rated heating capacity down to 5 °F per Mitsubishi submittals.
