Upper-tier Whirlpool tall-tub units on the Whirlpool electronic platform: stainless tub, third-level rack, Sensor cycle that reads soil and temperature, Sani Rinse, heated dry with a hidden element under the tub floor, and a manual-clean filter. They throw the standard F#E# codes and enter the same 1-2-3 diagnostic routine as other current Whirlpool-built dishwashers.
Safety first
- Turn off the breaker before removing panels; a hard-wired unit can be live at the junction box.
- Close the hot-water valve before working on the inlet valve.
- Let the element and water cool after a cycle.
- Wear cut-resistant gloves in the sump.
- Never bypass the float or leak switch.
How it works
Fill is timed through the inlet valve; the float switch is the overfill guard and a leak sensor in the base tray stops the cycle if water collects there.
One circulation motor feeds the lower, middle and upper spray paths; a diverter or the arm design alternates zones on some cycles.
Sensor cycle: a thermistor and an optical (turbidity) sensor adjust time and water temperature to the soil level.
Heat and dry: a recessed (hidden) element heats water on Sani/Hi Temp and heats air for Heated Dry; with heated dry off, drying relies on residual heat and rinse aid. Quick cycles may skip the extended dry.
Filtration: a removable filter in the tub floor must be cleaned by hand; there is no grinder.
