How it works

Fill, wash and drain follow the Whirlpool platform. Listings describe an Advanced Clean water wash system with five spray arms, including rotating jets for the third rack.

Filtration is a removable microfiltration (manual-clean) assembly in the tub floor; there is no hard-food grinder doing the work for you, so filter cleaning matters.

ProWash is the sensor-adjusted cycle; Sensor Clean reads soil and temperature to set the length. Sani-Rinse adds a high-heat final rinse.

Fan-Enabled ProDry: the tub-floor element heats the air and a vent fan moves humid air out of the tub. Extended ProDry adds drying time (about 15 minutes per one listing). A failed vent fan leaves dishes wet even though the element works.

Dishwasher detergent dispenser won't open (detergent left in the cup)

First rule out blocking dishes, caked detergent and an unfinished cycle. Then test the dispenser actuator (a wax motor or bimetal/solenoid on most units) for an open circuit, and check whether the control sends 120 V to it during the wash. A cup that opens but leaves detergent behind is a wash problem, not a dispenser problem.

Gritty or sandy residue on dishes after washing

Grit is usually redeposited soil: a clogged filter, a drain that cannot clear (air gap, disposer, hose) or detergent that did not dissolve. Hard water causes white film rather than grit. Work from the filter outward, then check the drain path and the wash motor.
