Whirlpool WDT730PAH (WDT730PAHZ) dishwasher: quick sheet
Covers: Whirlpool 24 in top-control WDT730PAH* (Z = fingerprint-resistant stainless, B/W/V color variants), sold approx. 2017-2021 (inferred from listing dates; retailers now mark it discontinued).
A high-volume big-box Whirlpool model: plastic tall tub, 15 place settings, 51 dBA, hidden top controls, three wash arms, fan dry and a manual-clean filter. It is the standard Whirlpool electronic platform, so F#E# codes and the 1-2-3 diagnostic entry apply.
Safety first
- Turn off the breaker (or unplug) before removing the toe kick or any panel; a hard-wired unit can still be live at the junction box.
- Close the hot-water supply valve before touching the inlet valve or supply line.
- Let the unit cool after a cycle: the heating element, heater housing and water can be hot enough to burn.
- Sump and filter areas often hold broken glass; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Never bypass the float, flood or leak switch to make a unit run; find the source of the water instead.
How it works
Fill: the inlet valve fills to a timed level; the float switch is the overfill guard.
Wash: one wash motor drives water through three wash arms (lower, middle and upper). Cycles: Sensor Wash, Heavy, Normal, 1-Hour Wash and Soak & Clean; options include Hi Temp Wash, Sani Rinse, Heated Dry, delay and control lock.
Sensing: the thermistor/OWI sensor reads temperature and soil so Sensor Wash can adjust the length.
Drying: the element in the tub floor heats the air, and a fan helps move moist air out (Whirlpool calls this Fan Dry). With heated dry off it relies on residual heat and rinse aid.
Filter: a two-part filter at the back of the tub floor must be cleaned by hand. There is no grinder to chew up food.
