Sony BRAVIA A80J / A80K / A80L OLED: quick sheet
Covers: Sony BRAVIA XR A80J (2021), A80K (2022) and A80L (2023) WRGB OLED sets on Google TV.
Sony's mainstream OLED using a WRGB panel, 120 Hz with VRR (added by firmware on A80J), Google TV and the XR processor. No backlight: faults are power board, main board, panel (lines, burn-in) and software. Panel-refresh behavior is the most common 'it shut off by itself / it clicks at night' call.
Safety first
- Power-board work only unplugged after discharge wait; live tests are caution work.
- OLED panels crack easily; never press on the screen.
How it works
Each pixel emits its own light; the power board feeds the panel and main board directly. There are no LED strips to test.
After long viewing the set runs an automatic panel refresh while in standby. Sony states the process aborts if the TV is turned on, the cord is unplugged or the room is outside about 10-40 °C, and the TV then shows 'Panel refresh did not finish'; it restarts the next time the TV is switched off with the remote.
Same red-LED fault indication and restart ladder as other Sony Google TV sets.
