Samsung WA45T3400-series top-load washer: quick sheet
Covers: WA45T3400AW (white), WA45T3400AP (platinum) and WA45T3400AV (black stainless), 4.5 cu ft top-loaders with Active WaterJet, about 2020 onward (Samsung product, support and spec pages; T = 2020).
A 27-inch impeller top-loader (Samsung lists the agitator type as impeller) with a built-in water jet for pre-treating at the sink area. It is a common builder and big-box model. Deep diagnostics: see the Samsung top-load washer (WA, impeller / VRT) field service manual.
Safety first
- Unplug the washer and shut both water taps before opening any panel.
- Drain the tub (and the pump filter on front-loaders) into a shallow pan before pulling hoses; water may be hot.
- Live-voltage checks at the control or valve connectors are caution work: insulated probes, one hand, no jewelry.
- Get help lifting: these cabinets weigh well over 100 lb on the spec sheets.
- Check Samsung recall lookups for older WA top-loaders by serial before quoting; this family is newer than the 2016 recall group but customers often ask.
How it works
The lid locks, the control senses the load, then fills to a level read by the pressure sensor. The low-profile impeller moves the load; there is no center agitator.
For spin, the drive couples the basket and ramps to a 700 rpm top speed. The control watches tub motion; excess motion stops or slows spin and shows an unbalance code.
The drain pump empties the tub; on this family a repair thread notes the debris trap is part of the pump itself rather than a front-access filter, so a no-drain often means pulling the pump.
