Samsung ME19R7041 1.9 cu ft over-the-range microwave (FS / FT / FB / FG / FW): quick sheet
Covers: Samsung ME19R7041FS (fingerprint-resistant stainless), ME19R7041FT (Tuscan stainless), ME19R7041FB (black), ME19R7041FG (black stainless) and ME19R7041FW (white), 30-inch over-the-range units with 400 CFM venting and sensor cook, about 2018-2019 onward (R model letter); retailers now list it as discontinued. Canadian ME19R7041FS/AC is rated differently (950 W out / 1,500 W in), so read the rating label.
Samsung's most common budget OTR: 1.9 cu ft ceramic-enamel cavity, 4-speed 400 CFM fan, glass turntable, sensor cooking and a flat handle. Transformer-type high-voltage circuit is assumed unless a finned inverter board is found when the cover is off. Typical calls: no heat, dead or stuck keypad (SE), lights, vent fan noise and door switch failures.
Safety first
- Microwave high voltage is lethal even unplugged: discharge the capacitor with an insulated tool before touching internal parts. All internal HV work is caution.
- Never run the unit with the outer case off.
- Turn off the breaker and unplug before removing the unit from the wall; it needs two people.
- If the door, hinges or seal are damaged, do not operate the unit.
How it works
Pressing Start closes the relays that feed the high-voltage section: transformer, capacitor and diode drive the magnetron, which heats the food. The turntable motor and cavity fan run with it.
Three door interlock switches (primary, secondary and monitor) must all be correct; a stuck or failed switch can blow the line fuse or keep the unit from heating.
The vent fan above the cavity pulls cooktop air through the grease filters and exhausts it outside (ducted) or back through a charcoal filter (recirculating). It can switch on by itself when the cooktop below gets hot.
Sensor cook uses a humidity/vapor sensor to judge doneness; Samsung's microwave code list covers sensor, door and key faults (E-01, E-6x, SE).
