Galanz countertop microwaves (compact and retro, 0.7-1.2 cu ft): quick sheet
Covers: Galanz-branded countertop transformer microwaves sold at big-box retailers (e.g. GLCMKA07 retro 0.7 cu ft, 700 W; 1.1-1.2 cu ft models). Galanz also builds microwaves sold under other brand names; check the rating plate.
Low-cost transformer microwaves with membrane keypads. Repair economics are tight: door switches, line fuse and turntable issues are worth fixing; a magnetron, transformer or control board on a 0.7 cu ft unit usually is not. Child lock ('L' on display, held Stop/Clear about 3 s on several Galanz models) causes many 'dead keypad' calls.
Safety first
- The high-voltage capacitor can hold a lethal charge after unplugging; discharge and verify before any internal work.
- Never operate with the wrap off or interlocks defeated.
- If the repair cost approaches the price of a new compact microwave, recommend replacement.
How it works
Mains passes the line fuse, thermal cutouts and door interlock switches to the control board relays; the HV transformer, HV capacitor and diode feed the magnetron.
Interlock switches are arranged so a failed monitor switch blows the line fuse; a blown fuse after a door switch fault is the classic pattern - replace both and test all switches.
Turntable motor runs on line voltage whenever the oven runs; the glass tray sits on a roller ring over the coupler.
