Midea Cube dehumidifiers (MAD20S1QWT / MAD35S1QWT / MAD50S1QWT): quick sheet
Covers: Midea Cube 20, 35 and 50-pint portable dehumidifiers, with and without built-in pump. Midea has shipped more than one control-board generation under similar model numbers, so read the code set shown on the display.
Recognise it by the nesting cube design: the upper unit sits on a large base tank that doubles as the bucket, so a mis-seated top is a common cause of bucket codes. Pump models show Eb for a bucket problem, non-pump models show P2. Sensor codes are AS (humidity) and ES (evaporator tube temperature).
Safety first
- Unplug before opening the cabinet.
- Do not open, braze or recharge the refrigerant circuit (EPA 608); a running compressor with a warm coil is a replace-or-refer case.
How it works
A small rotary compressor and an R-410A or newer refrigerant circuit chill the evaporator coil; room air pulled through the filters drops its moisture on the cold coil and is reheated across the condenser before leaving. The control compares the humidity sensor to the setpoint; Continuous mode runs regardless of setpoint and Comfort mode targets about 50% RH.
The evaporator tube sensor lets the board detect frost and run a defrost (compressor off, fan on) in cool rooms. Removing the tank while running stops the compressor and fan and the unit beeps.
Water goes to the base tank, to a gravity hose on the standard drain connector, or on pump models through a small clear pump hose. The pump draws from the tank through a long pickup tube with a round filter on its end; if that filter is missing the pump will not work properly. A gravity hose must always run lower than the outlet.
