LG PuriCare dehumidifiers (UD501KOG5 and similar 50-pint): quick sheet
Covers: LG PuriCare portable dehumidifiers such as UD501KOG5 (discontinued at several retailers) and later 50-pint PuriCare models. LG uses CH-prefixed fault codes.
LG's own-design portable. Unlike most OEM-built portables, faults show as CH codes: CH for a refrigerant leak (no field fix), CH 24 pressure switch, CH 67 fan lock, CH 01-03 electronic faults. The owner's manual lists a 41-90 F operating range with protective shutdown above it.
Safety first
- Unplug before cleaning.
- Refrigerant-related codes are blocked: refer (EPA 608).
How it works
A compressor-driven coil removes moisture; the humidistat cycles the compressor to the setpoint. Auto-defrost runs when the coil gets cold and has its own indicator light.
A full or missing bucket stops the unit (full-bucket indicator with auto shut-off). A filter check indicator reminds the user after a set number of run hours.
Below 32 F water can freeze inside; above about 90 F a protective device shuts the unit off. LG treats a CH refrigerant code as service-only.
