Maytag MVWC565F / MVWC465H-series top-load washer: quick sheet
Covers: Maytag MVWC565FW (4.2 cu ft, revisions FW0-FW3 in parts listings) and MVWC465HW (3.8 cu ft, PowerWash agitator), both marketed with 'Maytag Commercial Technology'. Part of the Maytag Centennial (MVWC) value top-load family. Years not confirmed by our sources (F and H are Whirlpool-family introduction letters); retailers list both as discontinued.
Whirlpool-built Maytag agitator top-loads with a direct-drive motor that Maytag backs with a 10-year limited parts warranty on the motor and basket (spec sheet). Mechanically a Whirlpool-family electronic top-load, so shifter, lid lock and drain faults dominate. Deep diagnostics: see the Whirlpool / Maytag top-load washer field service manual.
Safety first
- Unplug the washer and shut both water valves before opening the cabinet or console.
- Live-voltage checks in diagnostic mode only with insulated probes and one hand clear; never reach into the basket while the drive is commanded.
- Drain the tub (or bail it) before tipping the washer or pulling the drive; a full tub is very heavy and floods the floor.
How it works
The control locks the lid, senses load and fills by pressure-sensor level. The PowerWash-style agitator does the scrubbing while the basket holds still.
The shifter switches the drive between agitate and spin; the direct-drive motor's position sensor lets the control confirm motion, logging F7-family codes when it cannot.
Drain and spin follow; the lid stays locked until the basket stops.
