Maytag MVW6230H / MVW6200K-series top-load washer: quick sheet
Covers: Maytag MVW6230HW (agitator, Wi-Fi, Extra Power button) and MVW6200KW (impeller, no Wi-Fi), plus engineering revisions. Years not confirmed by our sources (H then K introduction letters). US listings rate MVW6230H at 4.7 cu ft (DOE); Canadian listings show 5.4 cu ft, which is the IEC rating of the same washer. Both listed as no longer available by US retailers.
Mid-range Maytag top-loads: MVW6230H is the agitator model with an Extra Power stain boost and smart connectivity; MVW6200K is the impeller sibling. Both are Whirlpool-family electronic top-loads, so F-codes and the shifter/lid lock/drain fault pattern match the platform. Deep diagnostics: see the Whirlpool / Maytag top-load washer field service manual.
Safety first
- Unplug the washer and shut both water valves before opening the cabinet or console.
- Live-voltage checks in diagnostic mode only with insulated probes and one hand clear; never reach into the basket while the drive is commanded.
- Drain the tub (or bail it) before tipping the washer or pulling the drive; a full tub is very heavy and floods the floor.
How it works
Lid lock, load sense and pressure-sensor-controlled fill as on other Whirlpool-family HE top-loads. MVW6230H agitates with a center post; MVW6200K rolls clothes with an impeller plate.
Extra Power adjusts the wash (time/temperature/action) to boost stain removal on any cycle; it is a control feature, not a separate part.
Spin is up to about 750 rpm on the MVW6230H (retailer listing). Drive faults use the F7 family; the Wi-Fi module on MVW6230H does not affect wash logic.
