LG LDFN4542 (LDFN4542S) dishwasher: quick sheet
Covers: LG 24 in front-control LDFN4542* (S = PrintProof stainless, plus white, black stainless and smooth black), sold approx. 2019-2024 (inferred from listings).
LG's mainstream front-control QuadWash model: 48 dBA, stainless tub, fixed third rack, EasyRack Plus and Dynamic Dry with a fan. Codes are LG's two-letter set (OE, IE, AE, FE, HE, tE, bE). Oversudsing (bE/AE) and drain (OE) are the usual calls.
Safety first
- Turn off the breaker (or unplug) before removing the toe kick or any panel; a hard-wired unit can still be live at the junction box.
- Close the hot-water supply valve before touching the inlet valve or supply line.
- Let the unit cool after a cycle: the heating element, heater housing and water can be hot enough to burn.
- Sump and filter areas often hold broken glass; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Never bypass the float, flood or leak switch to make a unit run; find the source of the water instead.
How it works
Wash: QuadWash uses four spray arms instead of two; LG markets multi-motion arms that reach more angles than a single rotating arm.
Fill and level: the inlet valve fills to a level read by the control; the leak float in the base stops the cycle (AE) if water collects.
Heat and dry: a heater warms the water. Dynamic Dry uses a fan system to move moist air out at the end of the cycle.
Smart Diagnosis: many LG dishwashers can send diagnostic data to LG support (phone tones or the ThinQ app on connected models); check whether this unit supports it.
