How it works

Timed fill; float switch and base-tray leak switch protect against overfill and leaks.

Drying: element under or on the tub floor heats the air; KDTE334G adds a drying fan (ProDry). Heated dry must be selected for best results; rinse aid matters.

Dishwasher detergent dispenser won't open (detergent left in the cup)

First rule out blocking dishes, caked detergent and an unfinished cycle. Then test the dispenser actuator (a wax motor or bimetal/solenoid on most units) for an open circuit, and check whether the control sends 120 V to it during the wash. A cup that opens but leaves detergent behind is a wash problem, not a dispenser problem.

Gritty or sandy residue on dishes after washing

Grit is usually redeposited soil: a clogged filter, a drain that cannot clear (air gap, disposer, hose) or detergent that did not dissolve. Hard water causes white film rather than grit. Work from the filter outward, then check the drain path and the wash motor.
