GE GDT665S (GDT665SSNSS) dishwasher: quick sheet

Covers: GE 24 in top-control GDT665S* family (SSNSS stainless, SGNBB/SGNWW black and white, SMNES slate); N-suffix units sold approx. 2019-2023 (inferred from listings; GE now says the model is no longer manufactured).

Cross-checkedBrands: GE9 components

A mid-range GE top-control unit with a stainless tub, 16 place settings, about 46 dBA, a third rack, bottle jets, Steam + Sani and Dry Boost with fan assist, plus built-in Wi-Fi (SmartHQ). It has a hard-food disposer, so the filter is less critical than on Whirlpool units, but the sump and drain path still collect debris.

Safety first

  • Turn off the breaker (or unplug) before removing the toe kick or any panel; a hard-wired unit can still be live at the junction box.
  • Close the hot-water supply valve before touching the inlet valve or supply line.
  • Let the unit cool after a cycle: the heating element, heater housing and water can be hot enough to burn.
  • Sump and filter areas often hold broken glass; wear cut-resistant gloves.
  • Never bypass the float, flood or leak switch to make a unit run; find the source of the water instead.

How it works

Wash: GE calls this a 3-level 600 Series wash system: lower arm, mid arm and a third-rack spray. Up to four bottle jets in the upper rack spray into tall items.

Hard-food disposer: a chopper blade at the sump breaks up soil so it can drain, and a filter screen catches fine particles.

Heat and steam: the tub-floor element heats water for the Sani and Steam options and heats air for drying.

Dry Boost: a fan pulls moist air out at the end of the cycle. GE says it dries plastics better than heated dry alone.

Connectivity: Wi-Fi through SmartHQ lets the owner see cycle status and alerts; it does not replace a meter check.
