Miele W1 front-load washer: field service manual
Covers: Miele W1 front-loaders sold in the US (including TwinDos models), plus earlier Miele front-loaders that share the F-code scheme. Codes vary by model; confirm on the tech sheet.
Miele washers use F-codes and a front drain-pump access panel with screw-out drain filters. Drain faults (F11) and intake faults (F10) are the bread-and-butter calls; heater (F20), sensor and electronics codes need parts. Miele limits the drain delivery head to about 1 m (3 ft 3 in), so a high standpipe can cause F11 by itself.
Safety first
- Unplug before opening the pump panel; drain water may be hot
- Heater tests: power off
How it works
Fill: inlet valves fill through the detergent path; a flow meter counts intake and a pressure sensor reads the water level. Too little water in time sets F10; a flow-meter problem sets F19; level-sensing faults set F51.
Heat: a heater in the tub sump is controlled by an NTC sensor. F1/F2 point at the NTC circuit; F20 means the water did not reach temperature in time.
Drain: the drain pump sits behind the lower front access panel with screw-in drain filters (some models have two, each must go back on its own side). F11 means the water did not leave in time.
Motor: drum speed is monitored by a speed sensor/tacho; F53 is reported as a speed-sensor fault.
