LG WashCombo all-in-one heat-pump washer/dryer: field service manual

Covers: LG WashCombo ventless all-in-one units (WM6998H-series, about 2023 onward) sold in the US. Series names only.

Single sourceBrands: LG7 components

The WashCombo washes and dries in one 27-inch drum. The wash side is an LG inverter direct-drive front-loader; the dry side uses an inverter heat pump in a closed air loop, so there is no vent. It runs on a standard 120 V outlet. Most callbacks are drying-time expectations and lint/condenser cleaning, not part failures.

Safety first

  • Unplug before opening any panel.
  • Sealed heat-pump circuit: no brazing, recharge or compressor work; refer to an EPA 608-certified technician.
  • Drain water can be hot after a wash.

How it works

Wash: the same sequence as LG's front-loaders: door lock, fill through the inlet valve and dispenser, level read by the pressure sensor, tumble with the direct-drive motor, drain through the pump and filter at the lower front, then spin up to about 1,300 rpm.

Dry: after the final spin the unit switches to its heat-pump circuit. A fan pushes drum air through an evaporator, which cools it so moisture condenses, then through a condenser that reheats it before it returns to the drum. Condensed water is pumped out through the normal drain. LG lists an auto-cleaning condenser that flushes the coil with water, plus a lint filter that is reached from the top of the unit.

Time and capacity: a full wash-and-dry cycle commonly runs two to three-plus hours, and dry capacity is smaller than wash capacity. Independent tests measured average combined cycles around 2 hours 20 minutes, with sheets and bedding running longer and sometimes finishing slightly damp.

Codes: wash-side codes follow LG's standard washer list (OE, UE, dE, LE, PE, tE). LG also documents dHE during a dry cycle, which points at the drying fan motor or a temporary glitch.
