Frigidaire / Electrolux dishwasher: field service manual
Covers: Frigidaire and Electrolux 24 in built-in dishwashers (FFID, FGID, FDB, FGBD, FPID families and Electrolux-branded units). Electronic models show i-codes; older mechanical/LED units use flashes or beeps.
A straightforward design: a circulation (wash) motor/pump assembly on a sump, a separate drain pump with a check ball, a heating element in the bottom of the tub, a turbidity sensor on many electronic models and a float/flood switch. The supply has an integral air gap meeting ASSE 1006. Common calls are i20 (drain), i30 (leak), i10 (fill) and i60 (heat).
Safety first
- Breaker off before opening the toe kick or door.
- Water off before the inlet valve.
- Glass in the sump.
How it works
Fill: the inlet valve fills to level; i10 means level too low, usually a supply problem. Frigidaire asks for a hot line at 20-120 psi and at least 120 °F.
Wash: the wash motor drives the pump to the arms. If the drain pump runs but the wash motor does nothing, there is no circulation in wash or rinse.
Heating: the element in the bottom of the tub heats water during wash and dry; i60 flags a heating fault. A heater relay on the control can fail (including a cold solder joint) while the element tests good.
Soil sensing: many electronic models use a turbidity sensor; a 'tu' code points to that sensor or its wiring.
Drain: the drain pump empties the tub through a check ball/valve; if the ball does not seat, drain water flows back after the cycle. i20 = drain restriction.
Flood protection: water in the base pan sets i30; meanings of i40/iF0 vary by source (drain/filter restriction vs flood).
