Thermador Pro ranges, gas and induction cooktops (electrical side): field service manual
Covers: Thermador Pro Harmony / Pro Grand ranges and gas cooktops with Star burners (electrical side: ignition, re-ignition, controls), Thermador ovens (generic E-code handling), and Thermador induction cooktops. Thermador dishwashers are BSH builds that share the Bosch platform: use the Bosch dishwasher manual (slug bosch-dishwasher). Freedom column refrigeration: only owner-level data was found; see notes.
Thermador is part of BSH (Bosch group). Gas units use sealed Star burners with spark ignition and flame recognition with automatic re-ignition; the ExtraLow feature cycles the flame on and off, so clicking about once a minute is normal on that setting. Ovens display 'E' plus a number for faults; Thermador publishes only generic handling, so the numeric meaning should come from service literature. Induction cooktops share BSH F-codes with Bosch.
Safety first
- Gas leaks, regulator, valves and pressure are blocked work: shut the main gas off and refer
- Never dismantle the gas section unless licensed
- Breaker off before touching switches or the spark module
How it works
Ignition: a spark module fires the electrode when a knob is in LITE. The burner should stay lit within about 6 seconds of ignition; a pan on the grate makes lighting quicker.
Flame recognition / re-ignition: on select models the electronics relight a flame that blows out or is disturbed by drafts, which shows up as clicking during cooking. On ExtraLow, re-ignition clicks about every 60 seconds by design.
Units built after September 2018: sparking continues while the knob is held past the child-lock position; that is normal.
After first power-up or an outage, igniters may spark once or twice with all knobs off; that is normal.
Induction: protection logic shuts zones or electronics down on overheat, hot cookware on the control panel, or the automatic time limit, and reports F-codes that the user can clear.
