Samsung, LG and Frigidaire ranges: control and lock specifics

Covers: Samsung electric, gas and Flex Duo ranges and wall ovens with touch controls; LG electric, gas and dual-fuel ranges (single and double oven, EasyClean/self-clean); Frigidaire electronic oven control (EOC) ranges with F1x/F3x/F9x codes.

Cross-checkedBrands: Samsung, LG, Frigidaire7 components

All three use an RTD oven sensor near 1,080-1,100 ohms, relay-driven elements or igniters, and a motorized self-clean lock. They differ in codes, calibration menus and board layout: LG splits main, relay and cooktop boards; Samsung uses C-codes and a divider switch on Flex Duo; Frigidaire EOCs use two-digit F-codes.

Safety first

  • Unplug or turn off the breaker before opening panels; LG notes the oven lamp socket can carry 120 V to chassis even when off
  • Gas models: electrical checks only; gas valves and supply are blocked
  • If the oven heats after Cancel, kill the breaker and leave it off

How it works

Samsung: codes are C-prefixed on many models (C-d0 key held, C-d1 door lock, C-20/C-21 sensor and over-temperature, C-F0 main/sub board link, C-F2 touch IC link); older displays show SE/5E for a shorted key. Flex Duo / Dual Door ovens use a divider switch at the back wall; -dC-/-dE- means the divider state does not match the chosen mode. A door that stays locked on a cool oven may simply be Child Lock.

Samsung calibration: on several models hold Clock/Settings about 3 seconds and pick the temperature-adjust item (range ±35°F on NE63-series, ±30°F on some others); touch models use a Calibrate Temp item in settings. Samsung recommends a thermocouple, not a dial thermometer.

LG: the main board handles power supply, oven heater control, lamp, lock motor and convection fan, plus keypad and error detection; a separate relay board switches heater power, and a cooktop board drives surface relays and the hot-surface indicator. Codes: F-1/F-2 main oven sensor, F-3 key short, F-4/F-5 lower-oven sensor, F-9 slow preheat, F-10/F-20 lock, F-11 board communication, F-27 fan stall in self-clean.

LG self-clean: the lock motor turns a cam that pushes the latch rod to lock; the latch stays locked above about 500°F and the motor pulls it open once below that (per LG training material for one series). EasyClean is a low-temperature steam clean that does not lock the door, so 'EasyClean works but self-clean doesn't' points to the latch.

LG calibration: press Settings until AdJU shows, enter up to 35°F, press Settings again for a minus sign, then Start. Applies to bake, not broil or clean, and is kept after power loss.

Frigidaire EOC: F10 runaway temperature, F11 shorted key, F12 control internal fault, F13/F14 keypad tail not connected, F30/F31 sensor open/shorted, F90-F95 lock motor or latch circuit. Calibration: in a non-cooking mode hold Bake about 6 seconds, enter up to 35°F, press Self Clean to make it negative, Start to save; affects all bake modes, not self-clean.
