Samsung RS27T5200 / RS27T5201 side-by-side refrigerator: quick sheet

Covers: Samsung 27 cu ft 36-inch side-by-side RS27T5200**, RS27T5201** and RS27T5202** (Samsung files the user manual under the RS5300T platform name). Full-depth side-by-side with an ice-and-water dispenser on the freezer door. Per a Samsung community thread, the ice maker and ice bin are built into the freezer door. The most reported complaints are ice bridging and damming at the dispenser chute, slow ice production and freezer-door closing problems.

Safety first

  • Unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its circuit) before removing covers, fans, heaters, sensors or the machine-compartment panel.
  • Shut off and bleed the water supply before opening the water valve or ice maker fill connections; have towels ready.
  • Never chip ice off an evaporator with tools: a punctured coil is a sealed-system failure. Thaw with power off, a forced defrost, or gentle steam/warm air (no open flame, no heat gun near plastics).
  • Live-voltage checks at the main board or inverter board are caution work: insulated probes, one hand, no jewelry.
  • Sealed refrigerant system (compressor replacement, leak repair, recharge, brazing) is blocked: confirm the symptom, protect the food, and refer to an EPA 608-certified technician.

How it works

Standard side-by-side layout: freezer on the left, fresh food on the right, compressor and condenser in the bottom machine compartment. Refrigerant work is sealed-system and is referral only.

The ice maker sits in the freezer door and drops ice into a door-mounted bin with an auger and chute. Ice that sits unused can fuse into a sheet that blocks the chute.

Defrost is board-controlled: a heater under the evaporator, a defrost sensor and a bimetal safety. Melt water drains to the pan under the cabinet.

The door display connects to the main board through a harness that passes through the top hinge.
