Covers: Maytag MEDC465HW, 29-inch 7.0 cu ft electric dryer sold with the MVWC465H washer (gas twin MGDC465H), plus engineering revisions. Years not confirmed by our sources (H = introduction letter); listed as no longer available.
Maytag's 'Commercial Technology' value dryer: Whirlpool 29-inch cabinet with a heavy-duty motor and IntelliDry moisture sensing per the Maytag spec sheet. Mechanically the same service pattern as the Whirlpool WED48xx/49xx dryers. Deep diagnostics: see the Whirlpool / Maytag / Kenmore 29-inch dryer field service manual.
Safety first
- Electric dryer: 240 V. Unplug (or kill the 30 A breaker) before any panel comes off; the element circuit can still be live with the drum stopped.
- Never bypass the thermal fuse, thermal cutoff or high-limit, even for a test run.
- A blown thermal fuse is a symptom: always inspect and clean the full exhaust run before returning the dryer to service.
How it works
Belt-driven drum and blower from one motor; the motor switch enables heat once the drum is turning.
The control regulates heat with the exhaust thermistor; IntelliDry sensing ends automatic cycles when the moisture bars read dry.
Overheat protection: thermal fuse, thermal cutoff and high-limit.
