Maytag MED6230H-series electric dryer: quick sheet
Covers: Maytag MED6230HW, 27-inch 7.4 cu ft smart electric dryer with Extra Power and Wi-Fi, pair for the MVW6230H washer (Canadian version YMED6230HW; gas twin MGD6230H), plus engineering revisions. Years not confirmed by our sources (H = introduction letter); listed as discontinued.
Larger-drum Maytag electric dryer in a 27-inch-wide cabinet (narrower than the 29-inch WED48xx family), not stackable and with a non-reversible door per retailer listing. Same heat-circuit, thermistor and moisture-sensing logic as other Whirlpool-family electronic dryers; confirm part locations on its own tech sheet because the cabinet differs from the classic 29-inch design. Deep diagnostics: see the Whirlpool / Maytag / Kenmore 29-inch dryer field service manual.
Safety first
- Electric dryer: 240 V. Unplug (or kill the 30 A breaker) before any panel comes off; the element circuit can still be live with the drum stopped.
- Never bypass the thermal fuse, thermal cutoff or high-limit, even for a test run.
- A blown thermal fuse is a symptom: always inspect and clean the full exhaust run before returning the dryer to service.
How it works
One motor turns the drum by belt and runs the blower; the heat circuit is enabled once the motor runs.
The electronic control uses thermistor and moisture-bar inputs; Extra Power changes cycle settings to boost drying, it is not a separate part.
Wi-Fi provides app status and remote start; it does not bypass the door switch or safety limits.
