Full-depth four-door unit (two French doors over two freezer drawers) with a tall ice-and-water dispenser and two ice makers: a standard ice maker for the dispenser and a Craft Ice maker that makes slow-melting spheres, located in the freezer (per Reviewed). Calls cluster around Craft Ice not producing, freezer drawer hardware, and the general LG patterns (ice-area frosting, linear compressor not cooling).
Safety first
- Unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its circuit) before removing covers, fans, heaters, sensors or the machine-compartment panel.
- Shut off and bleed the water supply before opening the water valve or ice maker fill connections; have towels ready.
- Never chip ice off an evaporator with tools: a punctured coil is a sealed-system failure. Thaw with power off, a forced defrost, or gentle steam/warm air (no open flame, no heat gun near plastics).
- Live-voltage checks at the main board or inverter board are caution work: insulated probes, one hand, no jewelry.
- Sealed refrigerant system (compressor replacement, leak repair, recharge, brazing) is blocked: confirm the symptom, protect the food, and refer to an EPA 608-certified technician.
How it works
LG inverter linear compressor drives a single sealed system; compressor and sealed-system faults are referral only (check LG's compressor warranty first).
Craft Ice: a dedicated tray in the freezer freezes a small number of spheres per cycle (Reviewed reports about three per day). A feeler/fill-level arm stops production when the bin reads full, so a held-up arm looks like a dead ice maker.
The dispenser ice maker supplies the door dispenser; its compartment and duct must seal or frost builds and stops harvest.
The main board at the back has a TEST button: one press forces cooling, a second forces the damper closed, a third forces defrost (LG test mode, see service mode).
