Standard-depth three-door French-door unit with an ice-and-water dispenser, LG's in-door Slim SpacePlus ice system and an inverter linear compressor. Retailers describe it as having dual ice makers; confirm the exact ice configuration in the owner's manual. Service work follows the LG French-door pattern: ice compartment frosting, defrost faults, and linear compressor no-cool calls.

Safety first

  • Unplug the refrigerator (or switch off its circuit) before removing covers, fans, heaters, sensors or the machine-compartment panel.
  • Shut off and bleed the water supply before opening the water valve or ice maker fill connections; have towels ready.
  • Never chip ice off an evaporator with tools: a punctured coil is a sealed-system failure. Thaw with power off, a forced defrost, or gentle steam/warm air (no open flame, no heat gun near plastics).
  • Live-voltage checks at the main board or inverter board are caution work: insulated probes, one hand, no jewelry.
  • Sealed refrigerant system (compressor replacement, leak repair, recharge, brazing) is blocked: confirm the symptom, protect the food, and refer to an EPA 608-certified technician.

How it works

Inverter linear compressor on a single sealed system; sealed-system faults are referral only. LG has carried an extended compressor warranty on these units, so check coverage before quoting.

The door ice maker lives in a slim compartment in the left fresh-food door, fed cold air from the freezer through a duct that seals against the door. A poor seal lets moist air in and the compartment frosts up.
