LG DLE3400W-series electric dryer: quick sheet
Covers: DLE3400W 7.4 cu ft electric dryer (gas twin DLG3401W), the match for WM3400CW; LG spec and builder sheets dated 2022 list it (approximate years 2018 onward).
LG's entry 27-inch front-load electric dryer with Sensor Dry and Flow Sense vent monitoring, no steam. Requires a 4-wire cord on electric units per LG. Deep diagnostics: see the LG dryer field service manual.
Safety first
- Unplug the dryer (240 V circuit) before opening the cabinet; both legs of the breaker must be off for any hands-in work.
- Let the heater box cool; elements and ducts stay hot for several minutes after a cycle.
- A blown thermal fuse is a symptom, not a root cause: clear the full vent run before returning the dryer to service.
- Gas versions (DVG / DLG / DLGX) share the drum and airflow parts, but the gas valve, burner and gas line are blocked: diagnose, shut the gas off if you smell gas, and refer to a licensed gas technician.
How it works
Belt-driven drum and blower; an open-coil heater controlled from thermistor readings. The moisture bars below the lint filter end Sensor Dry cycles.
Flow Sense compares temperatures to estimate vent restriction and shows d75 to d95; the dryer still runs, so customers often ignore it until the thermal cutoff opens.
