GE Appliances 24 in compact front-load washers: Haier QFW150 and GE GFW148: quick sheet
Covers: 24 in, 2.4 cu ft compact front-loaders from GE Appliances (a Haier company): Haier QFW150SSNWW and GE GFW148SSMWW. Both owner's manuals are GE Appliances documents (49-3000191 for the Haier, 49-3000291 for the GE), with the same filter procedure, electrical spec and consumer messages. The GE page now lists the GFW148 as no longer made. Other 24 in Haier/GE compact washers may differ; check the manual for your exact model.
These are 120 V compact front-loaders that stack with a matching 24 in dryer (GE stack kit GFA24MIDV/WE08X38499 for residential use). Instead of numbered fault codes, the display scrolls plain messages (CLr FLtr, H2O supply, Door, CAnCELEd) and blinks the Spin icon on out-of-balance. Most calls are drain/filter, no-fill lockouts, long cycle times and out-of-balance spins on small or heavy loads.
Safety first
- Unplug or switch off the breaker before servicing; the Power button does not disconnect power.
- Do not use an extension cord or a two-prong adapter.
- Drain the water before you open the filter.
How it works
Plugs into a standard 120 V, 15 or 20 A individual grounded circuit (both manuals), so there is no 240 V supply to check.
The pump filter sits behind a small door at the bottom right front, with a little drain hose you open first to empty the water into a pan.
The Consumer Help Indicator scrolls a message when the customer comes back to start another load. CLr FLtr means a slow drain was detected; H2O supply means no water came in and starts a 4-minute lockout that restarts if you unplug the unit.
'Door' shows if three cycles are started without opening the door, and the washer won't start again until the door is opened. That is normal, not a lock fault.
A sump sensor can run the pump with the washer idle if water creeps in from a faucet or valve that isn't closing. The manual treats that as normal and points to the water valve.
Cycles are long: an independent test timed the GE's normal cycle at a little over 80 minutes.
