GE Profile Harmony WPGT9350 / WPGT9360 touch-screen top-load washer (mid to late 2000s): quick sheet
Covers: GE Profile Harmony 27 in HE top-load washers with the touch-screen LCD, model series WPGT9350 (e.g. WPGT9350CWW, WPGT9350CPL, about 4.0 cu ft) and WPGT9360. Not the GE WCVH6800 (that is a separate GE front-load washer) and not the later Profile Harmony PTWN8050 top-load.
An older GE premium top-load with a touch-screen main board, a separate inverter board that drives the motor, and a clutch that switches between wash and spin. It is out of production but still common in older homes. Calls are 'A problem has been detected' notices, 'motor not rotating properly', blank screens, and drain/clutch faults. Repair forums call the inverter board a weak spot, but several 'bad board' cases turned out to be a foreign object jammed in the mechanism or a broken wire, so check mechanically before ordering boards.
Safety first
- Unplug before touching the inverter box: boards with motor drives can hold a charge; wait several minutes and work with insulated tools.
- Live voltage checks are caution work: one hand, insulated probes.
How it works
A main board with the touch-screen LCD, a membrane keypad and an inverter board make up the control system. The inverter sits in its own box and runs the motor.
The screen goes dark after about five minutes idle to save power; a blank screen is often just the timeout. Touch the screen or a button to wake it.
The service mode on this washer does not use numeric error codes: the screen lists the components or systems to check. Entry steps were not confirmed by two sources; use the tech sheet.
A double beep on a touch means the option is not available for that cycle or something (often the lid) blocks it.
