GE Profile Advantium 120 OTR (PSA9120): quick sheet
Covers: GE Profile over-the-range oven with Advantium technology, 120 V: PSA9120SFSS (discontinued) and the later PSA9120SPSS; 1.7 cu ft (GE product page; retailer listings).
An over-the-range speedcook oven combining a 925 W microwave with halogen lamps (speedcook), a convection mode and a 300 CFM vent. Repair is OTR microwave work plus the halogen/heater circuit: when it microwaves but will not speedcook, look at the lamps and their protection first.
Safety first
- Unplug before removing the outer wrapper; never run the oven with the cabinet off.
- The high-voltage capacitor (transformer models) or inverter board can hold a lethal charge after unplugging: discharge per the service data with an insulated, resistor-type tool before touching anything.
- Never measure live high-voltage circuits; all HV component tests are done powered off.
- Door switches, interlock and door seal must be correct before return to service; a misaligned door is a microwave leakage risk.
- If the oven arcs, smokes or shows burn marks in the cavity, stop and inspect the waveguide cover and cavity paint before reuse.
- OTR units weigh 60 lb or more: two people to remove from the wall and cabinet.
How it works
Microwave section works like a standard OTR (control, door switches, HV circuit, magnetron). Speedcook adds upper halogen lamps and other heaters switched by the control, so food browns while microwaves cook.
Convection bake uses a heater and fan; the vent blower and cooktop lights work like any OTR.
Thermal protectors open if cavity or electronics overheat. GE publishes error code tables for Advantium families; the 240 V Advantium table does not apply to this 120 V model, so confirm codes in the owner's/service documents for PSA9120.
