Frigidaire Affinity front-load washers (ATF / FAFW / FAFS, late 2000s to early 2010s): quick sheet
Covers: Electrolux-built Frigidaire Affinity 27 in front-load washers: the earlier ATF6000/ATF7000 and the later FAFW (e.g. FAFW3001LW, 3.26 cu ft, FAFW3801LW) and FAFS models. 'Better' models have a digital display; 'Good' models flash codes on indicator lights. Exact years per model were not confirmed by two sources; a 2012 purchase of an FAFW3001LW is documented.
A common older front-load family with a full E-code system and a knob-driven test mode (entry steps not confirmed by two independent sources here; use the tech sheet). The calls: E41 door switch (very frequent), E21 slow drain, E11 slow fill, E13 leak, motor/inverter codes E52-E59, and heater codes on models with an internal heater. The control stores the last code, which you can recall even when the customer can't remember the display.
Safety first
- If you use the tech-sheet diagnostic mode, it runs the machine with safety logic bypassed: keep clear of the door and drum.
- Unplug before opening panels.
- Heater and motor-board checks are caution work.
How it works
The board reads the door through a switch and a PTC circuit; E41 means it sees the door switch open, E47/E48 point to the door PTC circuit open or closed.
The motor runs from a speed-control (inverter) board with tacho feedback: E52 bad tacho signal, E56-E58 high current, E59 no tacho for 3 seconds, E5A-E5C heat-sink temperature.
Drain: E21 water not pumping out fast enough; E23/E24 drain pump relay or circuit; EF1 clogged drain pump. Fill: E11 too long. Suds: EF2.
Line power is monitored: EB1 frequency, EB2 over about 130 VAC, EB3 under about 90 VAC. Check the outlet before the board.
