Electrolux IQ-Touch / Wave-Touch front-load washers EIFLS55-60, EIFLW50-55, EWFLS70, EWFLW65 (about 2008-2014): quick sheet
Covers: Older Electrolux 27 in front-loaders sold in the US before the EFLS 'Perfect Steam' line: IQ-Touch EIFLS55, EIFLS60 (e.g. EIFLS60JIW, EIFLS60LT0/LT1), EIFLW50/55, and Wave-Touch EWFLS70JIW/JSS and EWFLW65. The years are approximate (reviews and retailer listings place them in that era; not confirmed from the serial plate). Use the model/serial label inside the door to confirm the revision (0, 1...).
These are steam-capable front-loaders with touch controls, an internal heater and a separate motor control board. They report E-codes that follow the Electrolux pattern (E1x fill, E2x drain, E3x pressure, E4x door, E5x motor, E6x heater, E7x temperature sensors, E9x communication). Most calls are E21 slow drain from a clogged filter or a short hose between the tub and the pump, door-lock faults and E5x motor-control faults.
Safety first
- Unplug before opening panels; the motor control board can hold a charge for a short time after power-off.
- Drain the drum before opening the filter; the water can be hot.
- Diagnostic mode runs the heater and high spin; keep the door closed and stay clear.
How it works
The main board runs the cycle and a separate motor control (inverter) drives the motor, with a tachometer for feedback. E5x codes point to that motor circuit or tach signal.
A pressure sensor reads the water level through an air trap on the tub. E3x codes, and fill complaints, often trace to a clogged air trap or a split sensor hose.
An internal heater with a drum NTC sensor raises the wash temperature on some cycles; E6x/E7x codes cover that circuit.
Electrolux's own article says E11 can lock the washer out for up to about 6 minutes, and unplugging restarts that lock-out. Reversed hot and cold hoses are a known install fault.
A built-in diagnostic mode (below) runs the valves, door lock, heater, drain and spin by knob position and reads the last stored codes.
