Bosch 500 Series HMV5053U 2.1 cu ft OTR microwave: quick sheet
Covers: Bosch HMV5053U (500 Series, stainless). The 300 Series (HMV3053U) and 800 Series (1.8 cu ft) OTRs are separate models; do not swap specs between them.
Bosch's 500 Series OTR: 2.1 cu ft, 1,100 W, 385 CFM multi-speed vent, sensor cooking. Often installed over Bosch slide-in ranges. Diagnosis follows the standard microwave path; parts come through Bosch/BSH by the full E-number on the label.
Safety first
- CAUTION: the high-voltage capacitor can hold a lethal charge after the unit is unplugged. Only a trained tech opens the cabinet: unplug, wait, then discharge the capacitor with an insulated discharge tool before touching the HV section (transformer, capacitor, diode, magnetron).
- Never run the oven with the wrapper or panels off, with an interlock defeated, or empty; never take live readings in the HV circuit.
- After any door, hinge, latch or interlock work, confirm the door closes squarely and run a leakage survey (see microwave-leakage-limit-interlock-check-after-door-repair).
- OTR units are heavy and hang on a wall plate plus top-cabinet bolts: two people, and support the unit before removing the top bolts.
How it works
Standard HV circuit rated about 1,100 W cooking power.
Sensor cooking from the humidity sensor.
385 CFM blower, convertible; outside venting uses a 3-1/4 x 10 in rectangular duct option.
