Maytag MMV4207 (JZ/JW/JB/JK) 1.9 cu ft OTR microwave with Dual Crisp: quick sheet
Covers: Maytag MMV4207JZ (stainless), JW, JB and JK; the earlier MMV4206 is a related generation with a different feature set. Check the label inside the door for the exact model.
Whirlpool-built Maytag OTR with a Dual Crisp feature: a browning/crisper element above the cavity used together with microwave power and a crisper pan. That adds a heating element and its circuit to the usual microwave parts, so 'crisp does not brown' is a different diagnosis from 'no microwave heat'. Maytag-branded Whirlpool OTRs share the brand's microwave F-code list in the library.
Safety first
- CAUTION: the high-voltage capacitor can hold a lethal charge after the unit is unplugged. Only a trained tech opens the cabinet: unplug, wait, then discharge the capacitor with an insulated discharge tool before touching the HV section (transformer, capacitor, diode, magnetron).
- Never run the oven with the wrapper or panels off, with an interlock defeated, or empty; never take live readings in the HV circuit.
- After any door, hinge, latch or interlock work, confirm the door closes squarely and run a leakage survey (see microwave-leakage-limit-interlock-check-after-door-repair).
- OTR units are heavy and hang on a wall plate plus top-cabinet bolts: two people, and support the unit before removing the top bolts.
How it works
Microwave side is a standard HV circuit rated 950 W cooking power.
Dual Crisp uses the browning element plus microwave energy and a crisper pan, so the bottom of the food crisps from the hot pan and the top from the element.
The keep-warm function can hold food for up to about 60 minutes (retailer listing).
Vent blower is 400 CFM, 3-speed, convertible.
