Guide · WasherA washer that stops mid-cycle is almost always waiting for a signal it never gets: water reaching level, water draining, the lid or door confirming locked, or the motor/shifter confirming movement. Read any code first. Without a code, work the sequence: drain path, lid/door lock, pressure sensing, fill, then the drive and control.
Guide · WasherOn HE machines a low level is the design: front-loaders tumble clothes through a shallow pool, and HE top-loaders sense the load and fill only part way. It is a defect only when the level is clearly lower than the same cycle used to give, the load comes out dry spots or unrinsed, or a fill code appears. Rule out cycle choice, overloading and detergent residue before testing the inlet valve or level sensing.

If water stops, the valve is being told to stay open, so look at level sensing (pressure hose, air dome, level switch/sensor) and then the control. Siphoning (water leaving through the drain while filling) can look like a washer that never stops filling.
