Washer stops mid-cycle or sits stuck on wash, rinse or 'sensing'
A washer that stops mid-cycle is almost always waiting for a signal it never gets: water reaching level, water draining, the lid or door confirming locked, or the motor/shifter confirming movement. Read any code first. Without a code, work the sequence: drain path, lid/door lock, pressure sensing, fill, then the drive and control.
Before you start
- Unplug the washer before opening panels or the pump filter
- Expect water when opening a front-load pump filter: drain into a pan slowly
- Do not force a locked door open; drain and let the lock release
